Question Help Me Aquascape my 55 gallon

Ok that is a little drawing i made nvm the light fixture text i added lol.

Thelight green colored boxes are going to be dwarf hairgrass.

The Yellow colored boxes will be Cryptocoryne walkeri

The Pink colored boxes will be Corkscrew val's

The Dark Green colored boxes will be Watersprite

Substrate will be 100% flourite except in the middle where there will be sand with three artificial branches which i will turn into mini trees using some Dwarf riccia attached to the branches with hairnets or is there a better looking plant that i could use ? like some hairgrass ? i don't want it to be a plant that i have to trim very often but a plant that grows at a steady rate.

Also the house looking thing is going to be a castle and i might line the sides of the center triangle with rocks.

now if I do this aquascape then what fertilizers should i use ? also what filter ? and should i use presurized co2 ? since this will have about 160 watts of light.

I am not a big fan of little houses and castels in the scape, but it could be fun. Also, I think eventually you will ditch the watersprite, but for a new tank it is a great plant.
I took a look at those manzanita trees, and I am sure they are polyurethaned, in because they are I would NOT recommend you put them in your tank.
Contact Rich O'brien over there and let him know you want something similar looking to those threes, and he will save some raw branches for you that look like those without any coatings or additives. Be sure to soak them for about 2-3 weeks and chance the water every day, and before you put them in your tank, scrub with a scotchbright pad and rinse well, then place it in the substrate to make your "trees"

Here is a crude drawing of a layout that IMO would look better in the long run.
color key: black = diftwood....smallest in the back ground on right side
D. green #1=(fg) hair grass
Dark green #2 =(bg) vals (this spot could be changed with the watersprite)
light green=(bg) Watersprite
yellow= cryps
blue line is about middle of the tank.

Maybe adding some sm rocks to help fill out the scape.

The biggest thing about scaping a 12 or 13" tank is perspective
Placing a smaller peice of driftwood and/or rocks in the background will help
with this.

Hope this helps a little.

I agree with Kevin.
You could replace the watersprite with any other stem plant that tickles your fancy. Once you get into it you will change your mind 100 times I am sure. Also, maybe forego othe vals as they get very large! You can replace with a crinium or C balansae.

You should get the sandblasted branches.....better IMO
Your critter list looks fine as long as your shrimp are large enough that your rainbows leave them alone. I have a Bosemani that ate all of my shrimp.

i can't seem to find any info on those lol.
also in what order should i buy my fish ? and what do shrimp eat ? Also what fish won't eat my shrimp but can be used as a center piece fish ?

Here is another one of my horrible paint drawings lol.

so the orange is the corkscrew val's
light green is any type of carpeting plant : dwarf hairgrass or any other one you can reccomend,
Darkgreen is the mini trees i will try and make
Yellow is the crypt's and the substrate will be flourite covered with sand and the brown square will be the mini castle which will have a 1 or 2 pieces of slate under it .
i think that sums it up.
