Autodosing: What to buy/build?

Hi - I have been dosing GW Dry Ferts for almost 2 years. I would love an automatic way of doing this. Seems like many people on this board auto-dose EI ferts - I would like to do the same.

I have seen the Eheim Liquidoser, but I cant imagine this thing is beefy enough to fertilize my 75G tank with the whole spectrum of Micros/Macros. The holding cup is tiny! If you have any suggestions on auto-feeding that would also be much apprecaited.

Can I Get some suggestions?

Thanks,

PBOHART

The Liquidoser is meant for micro dosing only. For macros, you can get peristaltic pumps, and there are several DIY solutions -

- Dosing with a powerhead
- Dosing with an air pump
- Dosing with the AquaLifter
- Dosing with an automatic feeder
- Dosing with syringes/checkvalves

I run a pair of SP100FO in the stand - for for micros and the other for macros.
APT Instruments: SP100

The reservoirs that I use are old water conditioning bottles (Big Al's water conditioner). It's enough to hold about 2 weeks worth of ferts for my 90 gallon tank. You can also use larger reservoirs if you want to forgo mixing ferts every two weeks.

PBOHART, I found the powerhead solution that Wasserpest came up with to be the easiest, simplest solution for me. All it took was a submersible pump (which I already had,) some airline tubing (which I already had,) an airline splicer in the end of the tubing for a nozzle (had to buy that, I think it was $0.79 or something like that,) and a small bucket with a top (which I already had .) Did have to buy a decent digital timer which was 8 or 10 bucks as I remember.

That and about 10 minutes and voilà! Auto-dosing! I now think a LOT of my problems with algae and stuff before was due to inconsistent fertilizer dosing. I have a memory like a sieve , and with this all I have to do is check the calendar and make sure I re-do the ferts every two weeks.

Sláinte!
Cindy
