my 2.5g usage?

i have a spare 2.5 minibow tank
and i dont reaaly no what to use it for
dont have light but have a whisper filter

~29gallon Freshwater tank~~~~~~~~
~~10Gallon Freshwater planted tank~~
~~~10Gallon Saltwater reef tank~~~~

Youre not gonna go too far with a planted tank without a light. I think small moss/shrimp tanks are pretty cool and are low lit, typically with no CO2 to boot.

Set it next to a desk lamp on a timer, throw in some pellia and moss, and put in a betta. That's what I did

i do have a desk lamp but its incandescent also i was thinking more shrimpish then bettaish like maybe cherrys or something. any other suggestions or maybe tips on how i could accomplish it?

I just swapped out my desk lamp bulb for one of those curly screw-in type compact flourescents that you can get at Walmart. I think shrimp would work great too Just be careful if you use Excel as a carbon source, inverts are sensitive to high doses.
