trimming and filling in

How do you go about this process of turning lets say 3 stems into 6 stems and so on and so forth.

Lots of my plants are starting to show some great growth ... but the tank is still looking rather bare and I'm not sure where I should be cutting and what can be replanted

Anyone have any good pictorial links to show how to do this?

It's as simple as cutting off the tops of your stem plants and sticking them into the substrate. They'll root in no time.
You can also lay the stem across the substrate and hold it down somehow, new stems will shoot off at every internode.

so when you just lop off the top of a stem plant, it will continue to grow a new leaf? And you just stick the one you cut into the soil and it will drop roots?

Well that seems pretty easy ... is there a different method for different plants. This seems easy for stem plants, but what about bush plants, or grass?

rosettes will send out daughter plants on their own, and grasses send out runners, as you will see. Stems are easily propagated by pinching off the tops and replanting. You can leave the bottoms in and it will send off side shoots and become bushier instead of leggy. Just keep repeatiing the process week after week until the desired bush shape is achieved, then you can share your clippings and excess with a local plant//aquarium club or your friends here on TPT~

I'll only be able to share with canadians tho. I learned fast that in this hobby you can find some great deals and even better people, but as soon as you add "ship to Canada" that deal goes out the window.

Thanks for all your help guys

I hear you, that's my experience also,, but,,,,,I Will leave a few links here that their prices are good and will gladly ship to Canada.( some of them are in Canada).
If you buy anything from Ebay ,make sure the seller does not sent via UPS because UPS has lots of ways to rip you off with hidden taxes like $25 "importation tax" on a used $20 water pump!!!your best bet is USPS.
