So I was bored and decided to start scraping some algae off my glass and found this little item. Is this infact a flower stalk that my sword has sent up? If that is the case that is pretty sweet (maybe I'm doing something right?). Anyways, it is sticking out of the back of the tank (I have glass tops)it doesn't get much (if any) light, should I just leave it and see what happens?

Hey, so my sword finally flowered. I am pretty impressed. I never thought I would have anything flower in my tank. Here is a pic.

Should these flowers be in the tank or outside? Right now they have grown out of the tank. The reason I ask is because the stalk has split into three of which all are growing out of the tank.

Wow! Congrats! You want them to grow out of the tank.

29 Gallon Standard Moderate Light Planted tank
Lighting: 2x27 Watt 6500k P.C. Lights of America Outdoor Fixtures. 2x 20 Watt N.O. Flor. w/ Sylvania Gro Bulbs (9350k I think). Both are retrofited into a diy 12" tall canopy, with a 4" Diameter Clip on fan facing the opening in the back to circulate the excessive heat from the lighting.
Filtration: Tetra Tech 150 (modified to make very little disturbance.
Aquarium Systems Mini-jet for more circulation.

Is this from E. parviflorus 'Tropica'? They usually send up flowers all the time.

Raul, no clue what the name of the plant is. I bought it from petsmart a while back for $4, I split the rosette shortly after I got it so I had two plants. They both sent up the stalks.

Try to keep them in the humidity of the tank, you don't want them to dry out and die on you. Mind you, I'm trying to say keep them under water, just keep them close to the water surface away from the lights, etc.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".

Possibly more than you could have ever hoped for.
