Shipping livestock - need purigen?

I have noticed alot of sellers putting purigen into shipped livestock. Is this necessary for shipping? I am thinking of buying some.

If purigen is needed how much does one put into each kordon bag?

Some sellers use it. I haven't gone that far yet, but I'm always looking to improve...

If it's just a small bag of a few fish or shrimp, I think a few ounces would be more than enough.

Wouldn't it need flow to really be effective? Granted there will be some sloshing around, think that would be enough?
