Snail Identification

Anyone know what kind of snail is this? I mean looks like two different ones. Do they reproduce? I mean kind of asexual?

Oh wow. Really? Doesn't look like it looks more like those round Nitrate snails? Luckily I didn't put any snails in the tank. These actually came with the Java moss I got from someone here in the forum. However I was able to pick them all out. So question is... which ones multiply? Because I want one or two.. I mean I hope they don't breed... I don't many.. just one or two lol. It's for my PFR/TT/Rili & CRS/CBS tank (10 Gal with 3 oto's)

No, he said Nitrate. Don't go mixing up nitrite and nitrate snails now - that's all this thread needs.

Nitrate snails in medium to high numbers are ok. Its the Ammonia and Nitrite snails that will wipe out a tank.

In all seriousness, its a ramshorn snail and will reproduce. Most snails and slugs are hermaphrodites and can morph to self reproduce if necessary. I'm not exactly sure about ramshorns, but I believe they fall into that category. Don't be scared of them. They are a good sign that your aquarium is healthy. If the population explodes, its a sign that you're feeding too much. They are a sign of balance and actually pretty neat to watch.
