How long did it take for the turface to settle? Im contemplating a 10 gallon test tank myself, was considering miracle grow or MTS with kitty litter and a cap or using no kitty litter and the turface.

God your plants look great and your plant list is awesome too. Looks awesome.

What you ratio of dirt to cap, how many inches of each?

It is better to travel well than to arrive.

610g woah mama, lol. Make sure you take your time with that. That can be a real beauty. I would love to see the progress on that. Your doing it right though. Learn and make your mistakes with a smaller tank first. NPT will definitely be cheaper for the 610g. I can't imagine doing Aquasoil on a 610g tank.

I rinsed it real well and put it in and it was quite heavy after wetting it down!

I'm setting up a tank that's about 1.5 to 1.5 inch ratio myself. I'm doing the dry start but just getting ready to fill the tank. How's the mess been when planting and moving plants?

You are right; make my mistakes with the little tank and then it will be a slow nerve-racking but fun process with that big Mama-Lucca. I will definitely keep you guy posted with every step.

Not to bad, I wet the dirt real well until water was to the top of it, then I waited a whole 24 hours before I planted and capped it. The dirt will feel spongy to the touch, like packed mud, but easy to put plants in.

Week four update video

I've added fish 8 roseline torpedo barbs 4 tetras and 10 zebra danios and they are doing great 95% of my plants are adjusting well, but a few seem to be loosing leaves (Alternanthera reineckii roseafolia) and that is to be expected until they acclimate and get strong roots I hope. Still learning everyday, the dirt substrate also releases gas periodically and when I poke it with my plant tweezers.
