EDIT: Link for XP Parts... 4th post...Air in an XP2 question.

I had retired my XP2 for a few months and put a small Haggen sponge filter in my 26 gallon since its a newby Cherry shrimp tank. Then I decided to put my old trusty XP2 back in. It continuously released micro O2 bubbles. Looked like the tank was on pearl overdrive but there isn't any CO2 in that tank yet.

Somehow air was getting in the system and I feared an airlock might kill the XP so I've temporarily retired it again. So I'm wondering, since I put airtight stainless steel hose clamps on all the hoses, could it be the O-ring on cannister's top, or possibly the O-ring around the impeller? I can't figure how else air was getting into the can. There wasn't any noticeable leaking. Perhaps the O-rings dried out a bit during retirement and are no longer viable?

I had that problem for a while. Tried all kinds of different things. Eventually I replaced the main lid gasket and the 2 o-rings for the quick-disconnect and that pretty much sovled it. I got the parts from Big Al's. I couldn't find the o-ring for the impeller.

Here is a link to the Rena site. They do have the impeller O-ring. But Big Als is a buck cheaper on the quick disconnect and main O-rings... and they have most everything else. I figured the impeller O-ring isn't that big of deal if not 100% as the water is going to find the path of least resistance. I also ordered a couple of the little rubber bushings which go at the bottom of the shaft and dampen the vibration. I have lost one of those once before when it fell down the drain during cleaning. http://rena-aquatics-outlet.planetre...tar-Parts.html
