New Tank - Need Help

well... I just stumbled across this site thanks to google:

I have had a 3' tank for a couple of years now, but just bought a 4' and a 2' tank. Actual dimensions of all my tanks are:

new tank
Width: 47" (119.38cm)
Height: 18" (45.72cm)
Depth: 17" (43.18cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 14382 cubic inches or 62.26 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 242.19 liters.

old tank
Width: 36" (91.44cm)
Height: 18" (45.72cm)
Depth: 13" (33.02cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 8424 cubic inches or 36.47 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 141.86 liters.

quarantine tank / or sump tank
Width: 24" (60.96cm)
Height: 14" (35.56cm)
Depth: 15" (38.1cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 5040 cubic inches or 21.82 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 84.87 liters.

goldfish tank
Width: 15" (38.1cm)
Height: 10" (25.4cm)
Depth: 10" (25.4cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 1500 cubic inches or 6.49 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 25.26 liters.

I have currently a heap of tropicals and plants in my 3' tank, but am seeking ideas for the 4'.

I would like to change the 3' to plastic plants, and do the 4' as a planted properly this time (the 3' uses standard gravel, no co2, and has 3x30w pro-grow lights on it)

I want to put Angels and some other fish into the 4', and set up the 2' as a shrimp breeding tank. Anyone have any ideas about where I can find a list of plant friendly fish, which ones will go with angels, or any other advice I should know about??

I will put a 1000 or 1400L/h canister filter onto the 4'.
any thoughts??

also (and I have been looking!!) I am after a thread/article that says exactly what order to put things in - ie substrate (how much/type) water, plants (how long should they be in first) fish etc etc. I am fairly confident that I can cycle a tank alright, but plants have always been more of an afterthought then an actual part of the setup.

Take a few minutes and read my Guide.

To set up a new tank you lay the substrate. Add the water. Plant the tank. Add the fish.
