I just went to petland and Im thrilled.

Well I have heard mixed experiences regarding petland, but I just went to this new location be me in N. Illinois. and I was THRILLED! There fish selection was Ok but their plant selection was filled with over 20 different plants and offered to order what I wanted if they dont have or carry it. So I put my order in for some red tiger lotus bulbs. I was amazed to see that they also had SAE's, and they were really SAE's. They were babies about 3/4" long and they had a tank full of em, 3 for $7 woo hooo. Im going back tomarrow to pick 3 of em up to put in my 30g. Man im excited.

Peace,
Ry

I thrust my tridant into the mass of medusa like staghorn. I am wounded but I refuse to take a knee.

I just found out about the local Petland here (northern virginia) and went for the first time two weeks ago. Their fish selection was incredible, and they had a nice selection of plants. I got an awesome deal for buying 45 cardinal tetras or so.

Ryzilla, how close are you to Schaumburg? Petland is part of Aquarium Adventure and it's HUGE! I found allot of different fish species, althought most are rather expensive. They also have lots of plants.

no it is the one on Nassau....i bought a total of 5 fish from them, and I lost a total of 5 fish within 24 hours...all seperate occasions. Some of the tanks have wads of dead fish balled up with fungus encasing them....it is plain gross there.

I saw this in ONE tank. It was a week after there grand opening at it was chaos when I was there in the puppy section. There was like 50 people swarming the pups, so all the floor people were in the pup section. Their plant selection might be the best in the chicago area.

this is a problem amongst the people who are working there. not all 50 people are buying dogs, therfore they are missing tons of sales on aisles, and in other departments. 2,3, or 4 people tops is all that needs to be around the puppies. remember, what you see at different petlands is not a result of petland (as a corporation) sucking. it's the staff there. i.e. they suck at presentation of their fish department because they don't remove the dead ones before customers can see. all of this said opposed to walmart, where EVERY walmart is bad as their system design sucks and so do all of the people in their fish departments.
