Lighting/CO2 for a 29gallon

I had this 29gallon planted tank for alittle bit over a year now. But I always had trouble to keep it balanced. I am starting to wonder if the source of my trouble is because I have too much light. When I started this tank, a friend of mine recommanded the 2x55watt ahsupply lighting. I have not yet upgraded to pressurized CO2 system. Currently I am using 2 Hagen ladder with the Hagen Canisters. Is that why my algae never goes away? Am I asking for trouble here?

I am no expert, but from what I am reading you arent getting enough CO2 for that much light.

I have 130 watts of light on my 29gallon and only use one Hagen canister, with daily dosing of Excel. Not really any algae problems except for the normal green spots on the glass.

With that much light you need consistent CO2 and a regular dosing regimen

What kind of CO2 levels do you have in the tank?

What's the rest of your nutrient regime look like?

Can you take one of those 55's out? Might want to try that and see how you like it.

CO2 level is probably very inconsistent... I try to make CO2 solution every week to keep it more consistent.. but sometimes it doesn't happen. I just started dosing nitrate, and potassium and plantex. still missing PO4 trying to get it from somebody here. I think I will probably take out one bulb for now, the plants are growing way too fast anywayz. I will try to upgrade to pressurized once I save up the money.

No, work has been a beast lately. I'm 17 years old, I don't need to work 45 hours a week.

Not a bad insult/comeback. I am reasonably impressed. But seriously though, you are going to run into algae problems with all that light you have. When I was a newbie, I tried the same thing, woke up one day to a nice green fuzz encrusting everything.
