What is wrong with my rotala green?

The new shoots are transparent and curly. The substrate is AS so I should have no problem except too much growth .

I would double check your Co2 though, crank it until the fish gasp and then pull back a bit. Your AS should be lowering your hardness. My experience with this plant is that it can act weird at times. I would not try to get to picky about Ca or mg with this plant. If you take care of the basics, then trim the plant, it will look better after awhile. Maybe it takes more nutrients from the roots??? I've gone crazy trying to troubleshoot deficiencies with Rotala green.

from sfbaaps,

I was able to maintain good growth with plain flourite and high KNO3/Traces with rotala green, I'd suggest TMG or flourish over CMS.

It does like lower KH's.
It'll grow well then stunt and not recover for long time peroids, in soft water, it's a damn weed. CO2 will also stunt this one.

GH seems to have much less effect.

A KH of 5 or so has proven fine with flourite.
But at those higher KH's, I think folks run into trouble with maintaining good growth with certain plants, maybe 10-12 species now.

Good NO3 also.

That was stunting it as well.
Oherwise, it's very easy to grow.

It's easiest to grow in ADA Aqua soil.
I abused one tank and neglected it, this plant still did very well.

You're right about that Tom. It has grown probably 10 inches in 1 week
