I am having a bit of a problem with regards to heat.

I'm currently running a 15gal with an Eclipse2 system and am having quite a heat build up in the tank.

First thing in the morn the temp's at 76(norm) then by the end of the day it's almost up to 80.

The bulbs I have are one stock 15w and a aquaglow 15w.

Is this normal or should I be concerned for the wellbeing of the fish.

Cheers,
Mike

The slow change from 76 to 80 over the day won't cause any problems for your fish. If it gets worse in the summer you can get a small fan and install it in the hood to cool the lights. Something like a computer case fan would do the trick.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".

Or just open part of the hood, maybe take the back panel off, or even open the front if necessary. Or lower the water level a bit.

I don't worry about 80 degrees, 82 or 83, maybe.

Also, you can set the heater to raise the minimum temp a bit if you wish, so the temp swing is from 78 to 80, for example -- again, I wouldn't at this point, but much over 4 degrees might become an issue.

Remember, the tank temp will depend on ambient temp in the house. In my house, summer temps are 80, the tank will be a degree higher typically.

I run a 250 watt metal halide over a 55 gallon and have never had a heat problem. I had this same setup as a reef tank for the past 3 years. I leave the top of the canopy open for all the heat to escape.

You may indeed. It has only been running for a month and those two plants are the ones I intend to get me through the anticipated algae blooms. I will stock a few plants at a time. I try and support my LFS as he can get me the plants I want but his supplier for the Anubia nana "petite" is out right now. I cannnot wait to get that on the driftwood. Patience is a pain. I am just pleased the CO2 is going as planned.

He can get me anything that is not outlawed for sale in Georgia.

The size of both of the plants you see in my tank are about the size I bought them at and the Wisteria cost me $1.29 for it, would be considered large by any outfit I see online.

The Red Ludwigia is two bundles I put together, they were $1.00 each.

I did not ask for a price on the nana's, I always trust he gets them to me for the best price he can. I have been doing business with him for five years.
