I have a 46g tank with a standard 36" fluorescent bulb. I ordered an assortment of low-light plants from FloridaDriftwood and all the plants are doing well (except the hygrophilia).

However, I keep seeing those blue-green spots on the plants and on the substrate (Schultz Aquatic Soil topped with pool filter sand). I understand that these are not algae but some kind of bacterium.

The tank is inhabited by six white cloud minnows, seven neon tetras, four lemon tetras, a betta, a German ram, six cories, two pearl gouramis, and a baby gold nugget pleco.

Is the blue-green stuff dangerous in any way? Should I get rid of it? If so: how??

Do a search on BGA or erythromycin
