question on API KNO3 test kit

What is a good number to keep your NO3 at on an API test kit. I know you want to shoot for 10-20 but the API test kit test i believe is supposed to be divided by 4. So If im using the kit do I want to be around 80ppm?

First time I've heard of this... Generally, if the kit reads ~10-20 ppm, that's where you want to be. I've had health issues with fish when my API was reading over 60 ppm (pre-planted).

Where did you read or hear that the API kit is giving you a reading divided by four? I have the same kit and I took it literally when it says Xppm, I assumed that's literally what I've got.
