Fish Moving Basics Please

Hello!

I am going to be getting a 20 gallon tank for the goldfish. Currently he is in a 10 gallon with an under gravel filter and a hang-on-the-back filter.

Pease tell me the basics for the procedure of moving the fish from one tank to another. The fish has been in this tank for 6 years, I don't want to kill it by moving him incorrectly. My daughter would be very upset (she won him and he lives in her room.)

Also, what kind of rocks or sand are good for the bottom? I need something super, super easy, low maintenance.

The only plants I will add right now will be Marimo and maybe some plastic ones, unless there is something easy that the fish won't eat. He ignores the Marimo but in the past he ate up the plants we put in there. I just need easy right now.

Should I add an algae eater, or would the goldfish kill it? He ate the snails we tried to put in at various times.

Thanks so much for your help!
