Waiting for stand... What to do now?

Hey everyone, I'm a first time fish keeper and have been researching and gathering supplies/equipment over the last 2 weeks. I have everything except lights and I just ordered my stand today, which won't be done for 10 days!

Is there anything else I can do?
start cycling tank? (substrate or bare bottom)
Off topic question: does it make a difference if I plant from the start in a dry tank or if I wait a couple weeks and drain halfway?

-thanks

wait

go over your plans again and again. debate with yourself whether your planned layout is good enough, make sure you really do have everything you need.

dot your t's and cross your i's

So hard to wait! I guess now would be a good time to figure out what plants/lighting to get

Do you have an extra tank (any size)?

I had a ten gallon available and am cycling my filter while I wait for my back ordered tank to arrive. Could do it in a five gallon bucket too.

Is nice to be doing something ... Am two weeks into the cycle and making progress.

I don't have an extra aquarium but I could buy a bucket! Would an AC 110 HOB fit on a bucket though?

That I don't know. I have a canister filter ... The curve of the bucket might pose problems.

Hello. You could try a Rubbermaid tote. They are rectangular.

Meh I say wait. Research some more. I wouldn't want to aqua scape then tear it down when the tank stand arrives. In 6 months you'll be bored of your tank so no need to rush it.
