Help! Suddenly cloudy after co2 increase

I got my drop checker up and running today on my 3 week old tank and the co2 was low. I have been having algae problems but I have been hesitant to blast the co2 without some way to know if it was dangerous to the fish. Long story short, I turned it up, went outside for 20 minutes and came back to find it extremely cloudy white!

Really worried about what is going on in there.

Possibly a bacterial bloom, I know they can happen pretty quick. Try a 50% WC with a thorough gravel vacuuming and don't feed for a day or 2. You could also use a water clarifier but I personally avoid using chemicals after learning the hard way.

Check the actual color of the water by putting some in a white cup. GW can attack just as fast as a bacterial bloom. Adding more CO2 could have caused the plants to bottom out on one nutrient or another and ever lurking micro algae could have taken advantage. Are you using any fertilizer? Usually if you use CO2 you supplement all the essential nutrients without depending on only fish poop for the nitrate and phosphate plants must have.

What is GW? Regarding ferts, it is a dirt tank and the plants are going bonkers so I haven't been fertilizing.

I turned down the co2 and went out for a few hours and it looks ok now, just a little cloudy. The soil is burping up more bubbles than normal though. Maybe some bacterial activity? The fish seem fine though.

GW = Green Water - it's free floating algae.
