silly question

Dr Foster& Smith sale java fern roots and they say bare roots ready for planting. What does that mean rizhomes void of leaves? If that is the case how does the java fern rizhomes grow leaves? I'm hoping to crazy glue a bunch of rizhomes onto a clay pot tip on its side and would like really glue lots of rizhomes onto pot . Could java fern handle its rizhomes close to each other? Or does it need to be space apart? Thanks

Sounds like bare rhizomes to me. They can be pretty darn close to each other.

Bare roots just means it isn't potted up in rock wool or anything. While you *can* mount rhizomes (java leaf, anubias, etc) quite close together, it's best to keep in mind that if you pack them in tight to begin with, there won't be room for them to grow without being overly crowded.
