Changing Aquascape

Im thinking of changing the layout of one of my tanks. It's a 20 gallon.

I dont currently have a holder tank for the fish so i was wondering, could i put 7 one and a half inch Tetra, 4 one and half inch guppy, 2 one inch ottos and a 2 inch betta in a 3 gallon bucket for a maximum of one hour if i added my heater and maybe my pump?

Id keep the original water in the tank so the bacteria and ammonia/nitrate rates will be the same and im using the same gravel. Just doing a major rearrangement.

What do you think?

I think you should be fine. Add an air pump.

However, I think that after you do the big re-do, you are going to need to do a water change. Re arranging things stirs up a lot of garbage. I have seen and had algae out breaks after major movements, so I'd suggest you change water to try to avoid an algae problem.

It went well

I gave up after trying to remove half of the fish and just switched it around with them in there. They didnt seem to mind. Did the water change and it's looking great! Il get some photos on my journal later.

Fish are fine and i did a water change just now so everything is cool. Monitoring water closely over the week however.

I am glad things went so well, and am glad you did the water change too!

That water change goes a long way toward preventing an algae outbreak.
