Sound like the bulb's pins may have gotten corroded and fused to the socket connectors. You can try using a small flat-blade screwdriver to to gently pry the socket loose.

Insert the blade between the bulb and socket, then gently rock the screwdriver back and forth. Once the connection is loosened you can switch to rocking the screwdriver up and down to fully push the socket off the bulb.

thanks for the quick replies. I looked at the light more closeley and noticed that the plugs and wires on one end of the light are melted. I recently moved and I guess in the move it was exposed to heat and melted it. so can I get replacement parts anywhere? any help would be great. thanks.

Call coralife, they will send you replacement parts free of charge. You will have to know how to splice wires though.

Ive gotten free ballasts and end caps from them. THey were very helpful.
