Ever wonder how fish might be stressed if they don't get enough oxygen? Here's an interesting bit about gender bending in fish when exposed to hypoxia:

One might speculate from this that continuously running a low light planted aquarium at barely adequate oxygen levels during the night could accentuate aggressiveness among certain kinds of sensitive males. Or put another way, the fish might be healthier and happier with a bit of supplemental air. See the recent airstone link:
