Im a newbie and my plants are in need of their first trimming.

If i remember correctly, the guy at my lfs said to cut stem plants mid way on an angle and swords get cut at the verry bottom.

Im not sure what he said to do about javaferns.

But i would feel more comfortable if someone with experiance were to say if this is correct.

my large sword is growing very fast and some of the outer leaves were dying off before i added co2 and ferts.....since then it has about 5 new large leaves and the outside are still brown so want to get rid of those hopefully make it grow even better =)

Just cut them sword leafs with a scissors, down near the base. It won't hurt the plant... in fact it will perk up a bit for you afterwards. :hehe:

Eheim pimp #128, 55gal 13x20x48, Eheim Pro 2227, CO2 injected, into the filter breather tube,4x 55w Pcs , 12 hr light cycle (sunrise/sunset simulated), Milwaukee SMS 122, faulty bubble counter replaced with M3 bubble counter..... moderately Planted, Plantex CSM+B and ferts

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research

You cut the whole leaf and stem off, the stem will rot otherwise.

Where the stem begins. As far down as you can cut it. An inch up is fine also if you cant get that close.
