Overflow with Sump for planted tank.

Hi everyone, i am new to all this and i would like to know if anyone has any experience with a overflow and sump on a planted tank? i have a 55 gal that i'm changing to plants. i plan on having angel fish in this tank. i am aware that i need to keep splashing down as much as possible. i am going to build my own sump to try to acomplish this. what i need to know is how much flow (gph) do i need to have on my return pump? thanks to anyone that can help me. this is a great forum!!!

I get about 600gph on my 110 with a Mag Drive 7, so 300? Do not know, there is a lot to consider. Are you using a drilled tank with an overflow box or a hang on back overflow? What size is your standpipe and return?
