Price of CO2 Cylinder

I have been calling around to the different Gas and Welding companies in my area and found a place that will sell me a CO2 cyclinder for $90, is this a good price? It's going to be a 5lb cyclinder and it will be $10.00 to fill it up when the CO2 runs out. Although this seems like a lot of money to me, the availability is great, it's not that far from my house and it's open on Saturday morning.

I am going to continue to look around a little more, but wanted to check and see what other's thought about this price.

Thanks!
Linda

I got my 10# from ebay, these guys actually:

its a nice looking tank and the price is right $57 for a 5#. I don't think they overcharge for shipping either, check them out. $90 for a 5# seems steep.

Somebody set us up the tank!

$90 for a 5# sounds steep to me as well.
When I was looking, I concluded a couple of on-line sources were the best deal. Especially if you can find one with free shipping.
Most (all?) local sources will refill or swap tanks that weren't bought from them.
There are quite a few threads discussing what people paid for various sized tanks, sources, etc.
You might want to search the equipment forum.

That is a good price for a refill. The tank price is a little high, but if it comes filled and location is convenient for you, might be a good investment considering the local relationship you can establish which might be a bonus if you need some regulator parts/help.

Reconditioned steel 5lb tanks go for $55-$85 (Filled) in the SF Bay Area. Refills for $10 are a good deal, they can cost up to $20. They are probably just swapping tanks instead of refilling your tank, right? That makes a difference if you are buying a new aluminum tank, and then it gets swapped for an old banged up steel tank. It's just aesthetics though.

I believe I'll be buying it, that's the impression I received from the guy I spoke with anyway. I have been checking and have found that most charge for shipping which ends up coming to around the same price anyway. I'll keep looking.

There's a Paintball store near me, will their CO2 cylinders work on tanks?

I bought my filled 5 pound cylinder for 68 dollars. It's a company based out of Newark, NJ that gives you a free fill when you purchase the bottle.

I have found that in my area welding companies are the most expensive place to buy a cylinder. The fire extinguisher shops are the cheapest. $55 for a 5 lb with a new hydro test date and filled.
