Eheim suction cups on Filstar in/outtakes

Well, I am tired of spending $5 bucks plus shipping for four of the "vinyl" Rena suction cups that go brittle fast and loose their suction/holding ability. I am about to become an Eheim convert to a degree.

I just ordered some of the largest Eheim suction cups after talking to someone at Big Als who thought they might work on an XP3 intake etc. They are the 25/34mm suction cup/clip combo.

Anyone tried this yet? Because Rena's suction cups, well, suck.

I haven't. But I have an Eheim and a Rena XP3 in the same tank. Let me know how you make out, as I have some spares so that if the ones from my XP3 break, I might try the Eheim ones.

obviously they don't suck enough!
I just ordered my XP3 for my new set up. I originally bought the Fluval 404 but was made aware of its leaking capabilities, so I swapped it out for the XP3. Oh crap, I don't want to do this again...lol

No worries. If the Eheim's work, its a pretty cheap cure at $2.49 per pair at the Big Als. I'll post if they fit the Rena XPs in/outputs.

As long as you got the right sized clip, they will work fine. Prepare to become another happy Eheim customer

LOL, I am becoming a convert, albeit begrudgingly. I do like German engineering. I've a new 65G I'm starting to gear up for. Hmmm... Doesn't Eheim make a can with a built in heater?

Pro IIs come in a thermo version-with built in heaters. I run them and I love them.

Mike you Ninja posted me. Haha.

Rena Filstars are great cans. You can almost buy two of them for the price of the "Mercedes" Eheim, which are a tiny bit quieter. And you may want to end up with two cans on a 90G. I think Renas are GREAT! That said, their suction cups "suck". http://aquariumpharm.com/filstar.html

But if you really want the low down, find the "I don't ever want to own an Ehiem thread" for some fun reading. And if you want the flip side find the Ehiem pimp club thread. Then you'll be totally confused. Ain't it grand? LOL

You'll be fine with one can for quite a while. Two is nice if you get a jungle happening. And you could go XP3 and an XP2 also. Or XP3 and Eheim whatever... to marginally keep the thread on topic.

I think the proper term would be "Madame".
