feeding tiger barbs.

I just got seven tiger barbs the other day. They are all a little over an inch in size. The problem is that they wont come to the surface to eat food. They look for food on plants and gravel, but when I add flakes or bloodworms they dont swim to the surface to eat them.

75 gallon, fillstar xp2 with inline reactor, 12 Lb pressurised co2, 4.2 WPG-corallife 3x96 watt PC-, fluorite/silica-sand substright.

They will get hungry and they will eat. Starve them a little. They will become ravenous. You might be the only person who has a problem feeding tiger barbs.

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

sorry for the double thread, i didnt mean to do that.

I was worried at first but I finnaly got them to eat at. I turn off 2 of my three 96 watt pc bulbs on the last hour of the photo period to make a more natural adjustment betweyne day and night. My barbs seem to love this "dusk" period and they ate no problem.. I was very exited to see them eat for the first time. That pack of 7 tiger barbs make a perfict school when they swim threw the tank. It looks like they all act as one. It very cool becuase I've never had any schooling fish before and my barbs display perfict schooling behavior.

I love these fish. Hopefully I can successfuly breed them. Can anyone tell me how big they need to be before they will form spawning pairs. Right now mine are a little over an inch long (still pretty small) I'm curious how fast they grow, and how old they need to be to spawn.
