Worm problem ID

Here's a couple of pic's of some sort of worm's i have in one of my tanks.
The problem is that,These worms seem to be munching on the plant's.
especailly the hair grass it nearly filled out the tank now i have near to nothing left
This seems to be the first stage looks like blood worms

Then they build some sort of cocoon that's quite hard

It looks like a caddis fly larva

I have had them in my tank, and haven't seen any problems. I actually think it is fun to have a little diversity "unusual' tank inhabitants.

Don't all insects have 6 legs? I believe so, but I am not sure if they still do in larval or pupal form. Any bug experts here?

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

Six legs yeah, but some have reduced legs and some larval forms have extra appendages that look like legs...that looks like a caddisfly to me too.
