Mangrove selection

I have recently acquired a 55g long and plan on making a mangrove brackish setup. I'm going to be inheriting a saltwater light setup, I think its Halide. My first question is will that lighting be enough for a few mangrove plants as well as Java Fern and anything else that will live in brackish water. Also, I began looking on amazon for Mangrove seeds and saw red/white. Is there a large difference in the two other than color? What sort of fertilization will they need? I have pool filter sand in my tank right now but will be picking up another 50 lbs of sand tomorrow to emplace the "beach". Should I make the beach out of a special fertilizer/substrate or will pool filter sand be enough. I apologize for my ignorance, this will be my second planted tank ever, and the first one was set up about three days ago. Needless to say I'm addicted! Any and all advice will be great :]

EDIT: Is there a local store that sells Mangrove seedlings? As in Home Depot or something like that. Or could you recommend a good online site to purchase some from?

More than enough would be an understatement. Metal halides are about as strong as you can get!

Fantastic! Hydrophyte? Is that a member here? And do you know if the pool filter sand will be a suitable substrate?

I have researched this idea a lot.

I have white mangrove and black mangrove here. Here are a few more interesting plants you might consider to go along with mangrove trees...
  • Pandanus tectorius
  • Acrostichum danaefolium leather fern
  • Cryptocoryne ciliata

These are all pretty cool plants.

That will be plenty of light. I have grown all of these mangrove plants just fine under moderate lighting.

Those are beautiful! I'm not sure if this is the right place to do it but above it was said you sell mangrove seeds, if so I would love to discuss prices.
