what does "trolling" mean?

Does it simply mean people who post useless comments that contribute no information?

People who post:

You all suck

or

Planted tanks suxors...1 4m 1337 h4><0r

...as well as any other rude or offensive posts...

are trolls.

You get people like this who come on a forum, raise hell, get banned and then they come back with another name (sometimes) and do it again, till their ISP is banned or something LOL.

would anyone ever know if someone joined the forum who really *was* an elite hacksorze? i'm against "labeling" people trolls because they claim to be elite, a hacker, or any bastardized combination of the two, because they might in fact be VERY LEET and one HECK of a HAQQSOAR! ok, /sarcasm off

trolls are the people that make forums a pain in the neck for moderators... the mods on this board are so quick and efficient that i VERY rarely see any troll posts at all, and when i do, they're gone within a matter of minutes. All boards get them, some are much harder to navigate and read through because the mods don't take pride in the quality of the content of the site, and everything turns to junk in no time. If you haven't already, take some time and thank a mod today! i'm going to petition hallmark to start selling "National Forum Moderator's Day" cards. Seriously, you guys are the best around!

I thought trollingmeant to go to a website to encourage people to come to your website? The moderators from seahorse.org do that constantly on reefcentral.com!If someone asks a question on rcs seahorse forum, they tell them go to seahorse.org!

Bugs me to no end!

It has often occurred to me that this is a very well moderated board. Kudos to all those who are so generous with their time.

People with planted tanks seem to be quite a nice lot too.

To me it's a spoon or crank-bait pulled slowly behind my boat...
I guess if I said that trolling sucks and anybody who trolls sucks too I would be a troll troll or trolling troll. And then if someone trolled me for trolling trolls they would be a troll troll troll and if then another person trolled them for... well you get the idea I think.

Sam

Let's just say that Trolls are unsavoury and ignorant characters which have no place in this pleasant community, and that our Mods are doing a stand-up job.

I have to give a shout out to the mods...
Thanks for doing a great job keeping the board clean. There are plenty of boards I've been on in the past, but most of them I didn't go back very many times due to high troll content.
