Please help with pressurized co2 tank

I was able to get a year old Dual Guage aquatek regulator with bubble counter, Diffuser and 5lb co2 tank for $65.
Background on my tank is a dirt planted 56 gallon tall tank with Angelfish, Gouramis, etc. My ligthing is a finnex sugeray 2 dual 7K (thinking about adding one more finnex that has one 7K and moonlight led ( I don't think because of height and glass canopy tank is getting enough light everywhere. My plants are Anubis (various types), Anachris, Red Rubin, Red flames, Amazon Swords, Dwarf Grass, Micro swords and Java Ferns. I am also dosing with Seachem Flourish line ( i will be switching to dry fert at a later date)
I have since installed regulator and accompained equipment and now I have a ton of questions:

Because I don't have it on a timer do I turn off my Co2 at night and turn on airstones or do I leave the Co2 on and turn on airstones?

Where is the optimum place to put the diffuser?

What is the optimum rate of co2 ie how many bubbles per sec?

How long before I see growth?

Do I stop dosing execel or reduce dosing?

With me now using pressurized Co2 how importan will be the testing of PH/KH/GH do I check everyday, every WC or based on observations?

Thanks in advance.

I would just leave the CO2 running all the time.

If you turn it on and off, there is one day that you will forget (not to mention it is a hassle).

At the bottom of the aquarium, directly under the filter return. This way, any rising bubbles are pushed around by the flow of water, allowing more time for CO2 to dissolve.

Bubbles per second is not a good measure of how much CO2 is actually being dissolved. You should be looking at CO2 concentration, and not flow rate. You could have a very high flow rate, but poor dissolution of CO2, meaning your concentration would be low.

I always give any changes in a planted aquarium at least 2 weeks.

You can stop using Excel if you are injecting CO2.

I do not test my water; the most important thing to doi s to watch your livestock to ensure that they are not being suffocated by the higher levels of CO2.

Darkblade,

Thank you. Just two more questions:

Do I turn the air atones on at night?

Do I measure the co2 concentration with the ph kh formula?

Once again thanks for the advice

Airstone at night is always nice if you're leaving the co2 on all night.

Check the last page about kh gh testing for co2

As mentioned, it is nice to have it on, but not entirely necessary.

Theoretically, it is wrong since there are other factors affecting kH apart from bicarbonate; this is why for most people I would recommend a drop checker with a 4 dkH reference solution, despite what Tom Barr (plantbrain) says.

However, that being said, I do not use a drop checker now that I know how to ballpark CO2 concentration without one.
