What are the ingredients for DYI Co2? Also, what size bottle and mixture should I use for my 24 and 29 gallon tanks?

Opinions and recipes vary, but I use a 2-liter juice bottle per 25-30 gallons on my tanks. I get better growth and less algae with double that, but have other issues associated with high CO2 with the higher amount.

I use 1 1/3 cups sugar
warm water 2 within a few inches of the top
between 1/4 and 1/2 tsp yeast

I leave the sludge in the bottle when I remix.

I put in half a vitamin and sometimes a little (under 1 tsp) of protein powder, but I'm not sure if that really extends the useful life of the batch that much.

for my 25 gallon tank i used to use:

two 2-liter soda bottles each filled with:

2 cups regular white sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon CHAMPAGNE yeast
tepid tapwater
(lasts about a month)

It's a pain in the kiester and I finally wised up and went pressurized. thank gawd i don't have to mess with that stuff anymore.
