Bronze Wendth

As you can see from this photo, my plant is growing hi long stems and not low to the substrate like I have seen pics of others do. If I cut the longer stems, will it damage the plant? Or will they lower on their own?

IMO, crypts leaves staying close to the ground is more the exception rather than the rule. It seems like I much more frequently see them growing more like yours. I do recall one other thread talking about crypt leaves laying lower if they are 'out in the open'. I observe this a bit in my tank where the crowded side of my Crypt wendtii grows more upward, while the side toward the open middle lays down more. But, I wouldn't really say that it is laying on the substrate.

As to cutting the leaves, I don't believe it would cause any damage. Though, I'm not sure the new growth would come in much differently.

My thoughts,
Brian.

It seems they grow flat like that under high light conditions. Otherwise, they tend to be more vertical. Mine looked exactly like yours when I got it. Now it grows vertically.

The plant has made up its mind to grow vertical. Pruning the leaves will only accelerate the process.

Mine seems to grow the same, not ground hugging nor upward towards lite(like weindt red). Interestingly this bronze in a [email protected],leaves stretch upward.
this weindt seems to grow somewhat bushier than some others.
