Swapping filters

I have 2 filters running in my tank right now because I am switching from a smaller to larger. How long should I wait before pulling out the old filter? Basically I am waiting for the bio to develop in the new filter. It has been in for 4 days so far.

If possible grab some media from the filter you will pull out and put it in the new filter. It will help seed the new filter while filtering and you can pull the old filter out.

You can run at the same time for extra filtration to seed the new one for a couple of weeks if you prefer.

The 2 filters I am running are the Fluval c3 (new one) and a whisper 10i (old one). Shouldn't running both together seed the new one?
