I dose my tanks with glutaraldehyde (active ingredient in Seachem Excel- CO2 supplement). It works great! my tanks: 45G, 29G, and a baby plant 2.5G tank

I run 22% more CO2 to my planted tanks now than when I started in the 1970s.
Didn't add a thing.
I just waited.

As with any other plants, Marimo balls will uptake some nutrients from the water column, so dosing can be beneficial.

I've had a moss ball in my tank for about 8 months (one of the first plants when I started my tank), and it hasn't grown at all.
