Mold on wood, dry start method

I am dry starting a tank to get chopped up fissidens attached to manzanita wood. It's only been going about 3-4 days, but I have some white hairy (not slimy) mold growing on my wood.

Is there anything I need to do? Will otos take care of this kind of mold later on? How much longer do I need dry start the fissidens before it attaches? I've read 1 week, but not sure if I need to go longer just to be sure.

I believe that's a fungus and should disappear by itself.

The fungus, while aesthetically displeasing, is probably harmless and will go away on its own after some time.

However you mentioned that you want to do DSM with your Fissidens? Why have you not just done so already?

I already am doing DSM with the Fissidens. It's been up about 3-4 days. Just trying to figure out how long I need to keep it up before Fissidens attaches.

That mold won't hurt anything.

If you don't like the way it looks you can use an old toothbrush to rub it off and then mist with clean water to rinse it clean.
