10g plan

I haven't set up a planted tank in a while and it never really turned out well so I'm giving it another shot. I'm going to set up a 10g aquarium with fluorite, 2 15 watt flourescent bulbs, diy co2 and some combination of ferts that I'm still figuring out. I'm trying to get an hc carpet going and then buy more plants as I learn. Is this a good start? I'm trying to keep it cheap because I will only have this aquarium up for three months and I won't be able to bring it with me to school.

That sounds kinda like my aquarium story except that I'm not off to school. Yet. You should get some dwarf hair grass, it's a good simple carpet that grows quickly.

Good luck.

How I feel about non-planted aquariums.

Will the 2 15 watt bulbs be able to carpet DHG?

Rinse, rinse, rinse!

If you are going to use fluorite I would thoroughly rinse it as it can really make a mess in your tank if you use it unrinsed like the package says you can.
