Exclamation Trip Down Memory RD 56K WARNING

Okay so I've made several references to a tank me and my late stepfather had years ago in a few posts. Much to my amazement I did manage to find some salvaged photos although I believe the rest have been lost unless they're still around some where lol.

I hope you guys enjoy this photo journal!

I'd also like to note that I apologize for the amateur photography digital cameras weren't so user friendly 10 years ago like they are now. Hopefully I find more and better pictures on that old camera.

That was a pretty slick setup. What happened to the tank? Is it still running?

the first scape photo looks awesome... btw, no need for a 56k warning unless you are on dialup and it took you 5 hours to upload these photos

Hahaha well just trying to give those on dial up a heads up if they choose to view the thread.

To answer your question, sadly it's no longer up and running or else I'd have it. My step father's health kind of deteriorated a few years after having it up and running. I wasn't around to help out with the scaping and upkeep when I graduated. Everything you see in the photos was my handy work he just designed the plumbing for it. Ended up scrapping the plant setup for a pretty kick ass oscar tank. All of the plants and fish went into our pond. What was cool was amazingly some of the plants took over the pond lol crypts groing like weeds. They're dormant right now because of winter but they'll be back in the summer.

We actually went through a few aquascapes because of algae blooms and had to use a uv sterilizer to get rid of the blooms. We finally figured out that leaving the front door open let sunlight hit it through the glass storm door all day (mainly because it's the only way we could hear our dog wanting back in).

The VHO lighting was kind of a pain in the ass to setup though. Note this was long before T5 fixtures came into the scene. If I remember right we were running around 600 watts or something close to that.
