reproducing plants

I am new at this but when you trim plants can you plant that piece of trimming and it will grow a new plant? If so what kinds of plants can i do this with? Asking this because i have a 300 gallon tank that i am starting and i have a bunch of unused tanks and equipment if i start trimming on my 300 gallon i have room to grow other plants in my other tanks.

Almost all stem plants can be trimmed and then plant the trimmings.
