Off-loading plants, overgrowth and trimmings

Hey All,

I'm in the SF Bay Area, East Bay. I've got a 65G running pretty good and a 220G about to get started.

I would imagine that at some point, I'm going to need an outlet besides my LFS to off-load all my excess growth. Are there and clubs in the Bay Area where people swap goodies or a place where people sell their excess stuff? I've been on Aquabid.com, but i don't know if I want to ship plants all over the country and have to deal with all the hassles that that brings.

Any suggestions?

Hey Jbomber. Check out SFBAAPS.com and join their forum and club. It's a nice community, and they do plant swaps, sells, and get togethers each month. Plus you can get some cheap fertilizers for a great deal with them too when you attend one of the meetings. You'll definately find a place for your plants, and make meet some awesome people too! (I've yet to attend a meeting, but plan on it)

Also don't forget the Swap and Shop section of this great Planted Tank Forum.

Best of Luck!

at least you have a store to give your plants too. i tried Big Al's and they wouldn't take my plants-- said they had to buy from their supplier.

There's also the Silicon Valley Aquarium Society (www.svas.info) that meets in San Jose, there's lots of plant geeks there. Geez, even bundles of java moss sell for several bucks each.
