Riccia growth rate between plastic mesh

Okay so I found out riccia grows not too bad in a non-co2, no ferts tank. When I first receive the riccia, I immediately took a small portion and squash it between two plastic mesh and tied the mesh together. I let it floating in a 5 gallon tank with 15 watt fluorescent (All-American lighting under-cabinet) and a 10 watt Coralife 50/50 bulb. I receieve the plants on Oct 27 and today is Nov 15. That's 20 days and now I see lots of new 'shoots' of riccia growing out of the mesh. Just a FYI =)

no need for CO2 when floating at surface.... it get all it needs up there. But submersed, they need CO2 injection for nice growth and for pearling
