Driftwood?

I'm getting a driftwood from lfs but they say that it will leach color for about two months, can this be use right away or should i soak it until it stops leaching, or can you recommend a place online that i can buy one from? thanks

It will leach tannins and lower your Ph. It is not bad for your water and most fish like it. It will turn your water a tea color for ~2months like you said. But if tea color water doesn't bother you, then go ahead and put it in

I let mine sit in a bucket of water for a day, then I boil it for an hour. the water in the pot is basically dark dark brown by the end. then I put the driftwood back in the bucket w/ fresh dechlorinated water overnight. by the next day the water in the bucket should have little or no tannins. then I just chuck it in my aquarium no problems.
