Are Limpets good or bad?

I have recently identified that I have limpets in my tank. Anyone have any information on how they help or hinder aquaria? Im a little worried about these little buggers since there is so little information on these mollusks. I understand they are similiar to snails except they have a half a shell. Please help?

Freshwater limpets are not that bad. I've never had them last very long in a tank with fish, and they never get to the overpopulation stage in a fishless tank. They eat some of the algae that grow on glass. They earn their keep, so to speak.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.

It's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

That IS an aquascape, it's titled "The Vacant Lot".

They are explosive in my shrimp nano. I don't mind them but there are some days when they cover the glass and I find really tiny eggs all over it so I crush them like baby snails. Extra protein for the shrimp. But as far as them hurting anything, I haven't seen it, and I have watched them eat algae from the glass.
