Question What do you guys do with overgrown swords?

How do swords propagate?

If you put a sword in your tank and it outgrows the tank, is there anything that can be done other than replacing it?

Being rosette plants, it doesn't look like they can be cut apart or seperated in any way without destroying the plant.

if you cut off most of the big leaves, most of the roots, and place them in a low/no tech tank the new growth with be small, and once you have enought, you can out it back in your high tech tank....just an experience that i had.

Yep, pull it, whack the root's in half, take off all the large leave's re-plant, and resume as before.
I do not keep sword's in hightech tank's these day's...they will bust the tank, regardless of tank size.

Good timing. I've been trying to figure out what to do with my giant sword plant. I have a 150 gal tank that is 28" tall and the leaves reach the surface in no time and get huge. It looks nice, but I put it in a corner to start and now it's too big for the corner. I want to move it out some more where it has some room to spread. Guess I'll dig it up, wack off some of the roots and leaves, and replant it.
