Is grapevine accectable for tanks?

I asked on another board and they said it wasn't because it was "soft wood". But I have some peices that are not soft in the least. At the moment they're soaking to get rid of tannins. I'm going to use it in my tank when it's ready.

I have seen it done. Took a week or two plus 24+ hours of boiling and it still leached!

Moved to Tucson.

I have some in my tanks. No problems. The smaller diameter "branches" will get soft and mushy after a while and I just cut those off. The thicker parts seem to be fine. It may float initially, but it'll sink once it gets water logged.
