Tanks with Peat-filtered Water

It seems that I have gotten a lot of "why do you peat-filter?" almost every time I post a question for my planted tank with peat-filtered water. It also seems that a number of the answers/responses given for non-peat-filtered water (what you could call: "clear water"), do not apply to peat-filtered water (or do not do so exactly or well). For example, WRT: lighting, pH/filtering, fertilizing/CO2, etc..

I've also not been very successful looking up and finding much guidance within the hobby on "peat-filtered" water in books or on the Internet/Web. Something more than a mention, a filter diagram, or other brief allusion of the like (e.g., "use peat to soften your water" or "use peat to lower your pH"). [I should probably mention a noteworthy exception: http://hjem.get2net.dk/Best_of_the_W...t%20page.html]

Does anyone else peat-filter their water?
- Perhaps we can pm each other when we need help.
- Or, perhaps a sticky could be added to a thread (or threads) that provides guidance/tips, etc.

What think ye?
