Large Hardscaping pieces

Hey All,

I also posted this in the LFS section, but i thought I's query the largest number of hobbyists.

I'm about to set up a LARGE tank, recently converted from a reef system.

The tank is 52 x 36 x 36. I need some BIG pieces of driftwood and can't seem to find a shop in the East Bay (where I live) that carries anything close to what I want. I was hoping one of you folks had a good lead on a nice selection of tank hardscaping. I'm willing to go mail-order for the right stuff.

And as long as I'm here, I might as well ask: I'd love to see any photos of LARGE aquascaping.

Also, does anyone have an opinion on using cork for the background? I saw some photos of it on this forum once. I tried it on a smaller tank and the silicone didn't hold it too well. Any advice?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

eBay is a great source for large driftwood. You get to see a picture of the exact piece your bidding on too.

As far as pictures of large aquascapes go....check out last years AGA contest pics here: AGA Contest

Jay, talk to me off list.
I'm in Sacramento and routinely collect large wood as well as groups of wood that match well. Also rock.

Cork works very well. The tank must be dry when glue and you must use enough glue. Use only the thicker dark cork pieces. Not the wine cork colored finely ground cork.

Also, join SFBAAPS, we are a local plant group that has been in the Bay area for about a decade now and have plant swaps and meetings monthly generally. We have close to 30-50 members at al levels as well as many great deals on ferts, equipment, free plants etc.

Regards,
Tom Barr
