question from a plant virgin....

I'm new at this plant stuff, but I saw some beautiful plants at Pet Smart today and decided to give it a try! Now that I am reading all this info. on it, I see that my $10.00 purchase of 2 plants has lead me to want to re-do my whole aquarium so I can have an all planted aquarium! My question (as dumb as it may be) do you vacuum the bottom of the tank with such fine substrate and or a planted floor? Or do you at all?
Thanks in advance for any tips you may have!!

Don't deeply vacuum the substrate. The waste (mulm) enriches the substrate. Just lightly vaccuum the surface to remove larger detritus.

Take a few minutes and read my Guide.

Now the bad news. There is a very good chance that the plants you purchased at PetSmart are non-aquatic.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a guide for those of us who need our hand held through all of this!! I must admit that the CO2 and the lighting situation is a bit mind boggling to me (sorry...I'm a natural blonde!LOL! ). I read every part of your guide (including your bio....I obviously have a little too much time on my hands! Might I also add that the fruit cake thing threw me off! !) and it is obvious you know your way around a planted aquarium! How about this...I have a 60 gallon hex ( I know you said these were a bad choice for a planted aquarium, but it is what I already had) with a Magnum canister filter...can you please tell me exactly what I need to get or do to make it (hopefully)successful?
Thanks again!.....OH, what do you mean the plants I bought are probably not aquatic????

Petco sells these a lot. They are not a true aquarium plant. They will rot, die and pollute your tank.

Thanks for posting these pics.

I saw the last one at a Petco and couldn't find info there or online that I could use to find out whether it was aquatic or not.

Thanks for saving me some money!
