Micro-swords, can they be trimmed?

Planted some micro swords about 10 days and wanted to use them as carpet plants. So far they have sorta grown taller. Can I trim them? If so, how much can I trim? Wanted them to be bushier instead of taller.

Looks like I might be newer than you, but will post the question just because I have micro swords and am curious - how much light are you giving yours?

Mine are chain swords, have had them for 2 weeks so far. Can see very little growth, except for they are chaining - have about 6 baby swords already. Thought I read on some other plants that low light caused verticle growth, while high light caused horizontal. That may or may not be the case (but it is consitant with several plants in my tank so far), but for what it's worth I have a 250 hqi on my 58 gallon (so I think that quailfies as high light)
